‘It Takes A Community To Build A Business & Business To Build A Community’ - Sharon deKoning
This is me! I love business, I love helping people, I love making cool stuff... So I thought a promotional company would be a fantastic way to collaborate everything together. I started this venture back in Provost
Alberta in 2007.
I was raised by a strong entrepreneurial woman in a very small community - Plumas Manitoba. I grew up in a restaurant where I watched my mother put her heart and soul into running a business and serving the community. My mother was on her feet all day, managed staff, managed business and raised six kids. I’ve learned early in life how important businesses are in a community. I also learned early that it takes hard work, persistence, pride, gratitude, and appreciation to run a successful business.
Over the years I have witnessed and experienced first hand, the wins, and fatalities of business. I know businesses can only survive if they stay memorable and hold value to others. A business is like raising a child - - late nights, early mornings, , stress, gratitude, frustration and pride -
a complete roller coaster.
I am grateful to be raised by such a resilient mother. I have learned work ethics, hard work, gratitude, respect and pride. I have such an overwhelming pride of our team (lovingly referred to as ‘my geese’). These girls inspire, motivate, and pushes me to the front of the flock. I have watched each one of them grow with confidence and the desire to be the best they can be. The geese are what pushes me to be the best version of myself. I am driven to assist in their young lives in areas that I did not. Ie. investing, coaching with our business coach, future plans. My door is always open for them.
I read Richard Branson‘s book and his words stuck with me many years ago: ‘Take care of your employees, they will take care of your customers.’ Amen.
I have three children, two grown and gone and a teenager at home. I also fell in love with a couple teenage kids who lived with us whom I consider part of our family and I am honoured their kids call me “Grandma Sharon”.
I am a complete crazy animal lover, with a house full of dogs, cats, and a pasture full of horses, miniature donkeys and now a miniature cow!
In any spare time we love camping with our horses, and down hill skiing. I love to read, learn and to grow.
I love helping others in any way that I can;. I try to maintain a positive, grateful attitude and mentor others if possible.
I assisted in organizing a committee in our local town called “Positively Provost”. It is a group of individuals that get together to help promote local businesses and events via social media, word of mouth, podcasts and YouTube videos.
